📢 Important Notice: Fee Plan Update & Itinerary Adjustment

Fee Plan Change
Dear colleagues, we previously announced an "all-inclusive USD 800" plan. After evaluation, the Alishan hotel cost is high and the all-inclusive plan would overload our administrative capacity. We now offer three plans (USD 300 / 380 / 800) for you to choose based on your needs. Lowland accommodation (12/5 Taipei, 12/6 Chiayi) is self-arranged; if you need the secretariat to arrange it, please indicate so during registration (at cost).

Itinerary Adjustment
Day 1 accommodation recommendation changed to Taipei Main Station area (Taoyuan/Hsinchu hotels are expensive due to TSMC). Chiayi accommodation recommended within 5-10 min walk of the meeting point (Wenhua Rd / Chuiyang Rd). Alishan accommodation depends on plan (Youth Activity Center or Alishan Hotel).

Receipts / Insurance
Registration form now includes receipt options (Taiwan invoice, Japanese receipt, English receipt) and activity insurance information (passport number, date of birth, emergency contact). Alishan is at ~2,400m elevation; the summit will arrange group activity insurance.

PROLOGUEMission: Why Now, Why Taiwan

"Disasters and forest governance driven by extreme climate can no longer be addressed by any single nation. Only by gathering collective wisdom can true solutions be found."
— Adapted from the 2025 KSFE Annual Congress opening address
  1. Return to the international stage. Taiwan was nearly absent from KSFE-FETEC 2025 and other international forest engineering conferences. This summit brings Taiwan back to the table as host.
  2. Showcase Taiwan's field to the world. High mountains, subtropical climate, indigenous co-management, century-old Alishan forestry — Taiwan is a natural forest research laboratory.
  3. Bring overseas practices home. Through IUFRO Div. 3, FORMEC, COFE, KSFE-FETEC networks, import the latest operational standards and failure cases.
  4. Nurture next-generation researchers. Students and young scholars connect directly with overseas lab directors, opening pipelines for study abroad and joint research.
  5. Reconstruct sustainability KPIs. Move beyond "harvest volume = performance" to multi-axis assessment: carbon sequestration, water/soil, biodiversity, community prosperity.
  6. Solve collective problems collectively. Climate-driven disasters exceed any single nation's capacity — Taiwan must shift from aid recipient to co-creator of solutions.
